Race Information

The Bahrain Marathon Relay is an annual charity sporting event organised by Bahrain Round Table. The race format is 16 legs of approximately 3 kilometres. The race starts and ends at the Bahrain International Circuit. The following is some useful information about the event and what to expect on the day.

Race Organisation
Official batons will be issued at the start from 9:15 am. Teams are requested to ensure their first runner has collected the baton by 9:45 am. Please note that marshals and timekeepers will be withdrawn from the route at 3:00 pm. Captains should, therefore, ensure that their team is able to complete the course by this time.

It is entirely the responsibility of teams to provide water for their runners. However, the organizers have arranged for supplies of water, intended for competitors, officials and spectators, to be available around the Marathon Relay course at stage changeover points.

Toilets are available at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Medical Support
Medical support will be provided around the course. Ambulances will be located near the start and finish line at the Bahrain International Circuit and are stationed around the course and in order to contact the nearest one ask one of the Marshals.

Race Officials

Race Officials will patrol the course and enforce race rules throughout the event. Time penalties will be imposed for infringements such as pacing or illegal changeover of baton. Marshals are positioned around the course for the safety and guidance of the runners and public.

Race Numbers

Race numbers can only be worn by members of the team in whose name it was issued. Race numbers are to be worn high on the front of running singlet, and on the back. Numbers must not be folded or mutilated in any way.

Race Results

Provisional-finishing times for completed teams will be displayed at the Bahrain International Circuit as soon as possible. We also expect (but the race organisers cannot guarantee this!) that times will be published in the Gulf Daily News on the 29th of October and full Stage-by-
Stage results on the 30th of October. The results will also be published on the Marathon Relay website (www.brt1.net)

Official timekeeping will cease at 3:00 pm.

Prize Giving

The presentation of trophies and medals to the winning teams will start at approximately 3:00 pm at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Winning Categories are; First/Second/Third Open Men/Mixed, First Open Ladies, First Schools (Under 18), First Schools/Colleges (Over 18), First Bahrain Sports/Social Clubs, First Hotels, First Airlines, First Financial Institutions, First Construction Company, First Sponsors, First IT/Communications, First Hash House Harriers and Most Improved.

Important Information

Public Security has reminded us that alcohol must not be consumed in public in Bahrain. We urge all runners and participants to note that such consumption is a contravention of laws in Bahrain and may jeopardise the future of the event. Team Captains please ensure that all runners and supporters are aware of this restriction.

...spare a thought for all the organizers, time keepers and marshals who have been out on the course for many hours. They also have to tidy up their section of the course after the last runners have gone through. To assist them with this unenviable task, PLEASE take your rubbish away with you.
